    ArtKids at Art Basel Miami Beach
    Where: Miami Children’s Museum
    When: Thursday, December 3rd through Saturday, December 5th, 2009 @ 12:00 – 8:00pm & Sunday, December 6th @ 12:00 – 6:00pm
    For the sixth consecutive year, Miami Children’s Museum is proud to present ArtKids at Art Basel Miami Beach. From mixed media to building blocks beyond, a variety of art exploration stations will be available for budding young artists to create their own original works of art. Art Kids welcomes children ages 4 – 12 to stay in the room for up to 4 hours at a time; children younger than 4 may also visit with a caretaker. Art Kids is supervised and staffed by Miami Children’s Museum employees, volunteers, and selected artists. Advanced registration is highly recommended, as space is limited. Registration forms can be found at www.miamichildrensmuseum.org. Either sign up online or fax the form to 305-373-5431.

    Tree Lighting Ceremony

    The Deering Estate kicks off their Holiday Season of Events with the 3rd annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Courtyard. Children can participate in the lighting of the tree in the historic Stone House Ballroom.

    Family Fundays on Sundays at Fairchild

    Story-time with Santa
    Where: Deering Estate
    When: Saturday December 12th & Saturday December 19th @ 10:00am – 12:00pm
    The Deering Estate welcomes guests of all ages for story time with Santa. Mr. Claus will be reading some classic holiday stories next to the enchanting Christmas Tree in the Stone House Ballroom. Children can have their picture professionally taken with Santa for an additional fee or parents can bring their own cameras and take their own photos for free.

    This Holiday season, the Miami Science Museum welcomes The Theatre Institute of South Florida as they present Annie Jr., based on the Tribune Media Service Comic Strip, “Little Orphan Annie”.Eleven-year-old Annie has been living in an orphanage her whole life run by cruel Miss Hannigan.  Great family musical for all ages!
    Annie Jr. will run from December 18-19 at 8pm and 19-20 at 2pm at the Miami Science Museum Theatre located at 3280 S Miami Ave.

    Holiday Nights with Wild Lights
    Where: Miami Metro Zoo
    When: November 27 – December 20, 2009 @ 7:00pm – 11:00pm
    Miami Metrozoo will open for 12 nights for a special holiday display of bright animal shaped lights and Flore de Lisa’s Winter Wonderland with the Festival of Trees. Holiday favorites like hot chocolate, holiday songs and more will make this the family gathering place of the season. Admission is $7.95 + tax for adults, $5.95 + tax for children (3 – 12) and $1 off for ZSF members.

    Winter Nights & Lights

    Miami Seaquarium will transform into a Winter Wonderland for its annual Winter Nights & Lights Celebration from December 19 through January 2, 2010. Complete with nightly snowfall, a Kids Winterfest, extended park hours and Holiday themed shows and exhibits, Winter Nights & Lights, will light up the Holidays with colorfully illuminated sculptures of reef fish, flamingos, dolphins, seals, sea lions, killer whales and other marine friends.The annual event will start at 9:30 a.m. daily and run through 8 p.m. except for December 24, 25 and 31, 2009 when the park will close at 6:00 p.m.
