    Celebrate Royal Poinciana Fiesta at The Kampong
    Where: Kampong Garden

    This June South Floridians once again celebrate the Royal Poinciana tree’s explosion of color during the Annual Royal Poinciana Fiesta.Nowhere is more appropriate to admire this beautiful flowering tree than at The Kampong, former home and personal garden of David and Marian Fairchild, who are reputed to have started the festival, now known as the fiesta, 75 years ago.
    Special admission $8 Adults, $5 Children. Includes one-hour Guided Tour, available at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

    Sushi & Stroll
    Where: Morikami Japanese Gardens

    Design A Tie For Father’s Day

    We would like to invite you to our 1st “Design A Tie” for Father’s Day. This free art event will take place on Saturday June 16, 2012 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. This art event is FREE! This art event is open to all children of any age! This art event will make lots of smiles. All children who design a tie, will also get a goodie bag filled with prizes and treats.     Big Truck Days
    Where: Miami Science Museum: 3280 South Miami Avenue  Miami, FL
    When : Saturday, June 16th & Sunday, June 17th from 12pm – 5pm
    This Father’s Day weekend, dads will be our guests at the Miami Science Museum during Big Truck Days, presented by Ryder. Kids can climb on big trucks and check out cool vehicles. Experience Ryder’s Moving Things Exhibit, tour the cosmos with stellar planetarium shows, take a dive in our Sea Lab and enjoy interactive activities for the entire family.

    Activities include:
    Mousetrap Car Workshop: Learn how to build a ‘Mousetrap Car’. Families can build their own and then race them.
    Speedway (Early Childhood Learning): Use building blocks to create ramps of different sizes to test how fast and how far your toy car can roll.
    Lego Car Prototyping space: Use Legos to build and test your own solar powered or air powered car, take a picture of your creation and post it to our gallery screens to make it part of the exhibit.

    Father’s Day BBQ

    DADELAND MALL’S “BOOK BLAST”

    Dadeland Mall invites children of all ages to celebrate the joys of reading at Simon Kidgits Club’s “Book Blast” event.  Engaging reading activities and giveaways will bring to life children’s stories and help celebrate books and the joy of reading.  Featured storytellers are authors Lisa McCourt, “I Love You, Stinky Face,” and Pablo Cartaya, “Tina Cocolina: Queen of the Cupcakes.”
    In partnership with the Florida Department of Education, Dadeland Mall will be accepting donations of new and gently-used books during a three week period around this event.  The books will support the “Just Read, Florida!” initiative and will be distributed to local area programs and schools.  Kidgits events are sponsored by Florida Blue.Book Drop-off at Guest Services Desk (main entrance) from January 24 – February 18.

    THE FALLS MALL’ “BOOK BLAST”

    The Falls welcomes children of all ages to celebrate the joys of reading at the Simon Kidgits Club’s “Book Blast” event.  Event attendees will enjoy an afternoon of engaging reading activities including interactive story telling by popular children’s author, Lisa McCourt, author of “I Love You, Stinky Face” arts and crafts to help bring to life children’s stories and celebrate the joy of reading and more. Copies of “I Love You, Stinky Face” will be available for purchase onsite at Sparkle Plenty, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Just Read, Florida! In addition, participants will also have the opportunity to use Apple iPads to explore the Florida Department of Education’s “Find a Book, Florida,” tool that will help attendees locate new and intriguing books tailored to their own reading interests based upon the attendee’s reading ability.
    In collaboration with the Florida Department of Education, a two-week book drive will commence at The Falls’ “Book Blast” event.  Families are encouraged to donate new and gently-used books at Guest Services beginning Sat., Feb. 12 through Sun., Feb. 27.     The Coconut Grove Art Festival
    Where: Festival runs along the streets of McFarlane Road, South Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive.

    Baptist Children’s Hospital Presents: Raising Girls
