  • Volunteer for “Feed My Starving Children”

    Volunteer Here

-Feed My Starving Children MobilePackTM events allow people across the United States to pack life-giving meals.  In 2009, more than 120,000 MobilePack volunteers produced more than 26 million meals during events in New York, Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, Washington, Illinois, and dozens of other states. In 2010, our MobilePack events are set to produce more than 32 million meals.

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization committed to feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit. Their approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals formulated specially for starving children, and then ship the meals to more than 60 countries around the world.

On March 18-19, 2011, we will hold a MobilePack event where 1,500 volunteers will come together to hand-pack a minimum of 270,864 meals.

We invite you, your church, organization, or club, to join us in this effort. Your help as a volunteer food-packer or donor will make a big impact in little hearts. Just 24 cents provides one nourishing meal. Volunteer sign-ups will begin February 6th. Please visit our contact page and send us an email letting us know you would like to be reached once registration is open or visit our donate tab to make a donation to help purchase meals for this event.

Please consider joining us in making this a successful, life-saving event for the starving children of Nicaragua.

  • Cool De Sac: Dolphin Mall – Grand Opening!

-Yesterday was the grand opening party at Cool De Sac: Dolphin Mall. The new store has the same feel of the Sunset store but has more space and a couple of great new additions. The dining area is also larger and offers a few new options on the menu. Well, where should I start? The toddler area is towards the back and is more secluded. I like this because sometimes the little ones who are just learning to walk get mixed up with the bigger kids running around.  Don’t worry parents there are a couple of tables right by the toddler area for you. And for the bigger kids there is a new gaming section with dance, guitar and video games. Large glass walls enclose the play unit. The glass walls are a great idea because it keeps out most of the screaming the kids do while chasing their friends up and down the slide. The make-up area has these fabulous kid sized clear acrylic ghost chairs. I’m in love with them and have to have them! The arts & crafts area seems to be just like the other one. Although, the Dolphin Mall store uses stick glue rather than glue in the bottle. Which is a great thing because I’ve left many of times with my daughters creation of a paper full of glue. Overall I love the new Cool De Sac and cannot wait to go back!

Did any of you go to the grand opening party? I would love to hear your thoughts.

  • Farmers Market

-Last weekend my family and I visited the Pinecrest Gardens farmers market. One of the first booths we visited was Bee Heaven Farm , the first farm in South Florida certified by F.O.G ( Florida Certified Organic Growers & Consumers, Inc. ) in 1997. The honey we purchased from the Bee Heaven Farm was simply amazing and is great with chicken fingers. The fresh squeezed lemonade and tomato & cheese empanada made the perfect snack. The macaroons from L’Atelier Gourmet were delicious  ( See photo below). Not only did they taste great but they are beautifully displayed.  After we browsed through the farmers market, we went to the splash ‘n’ play and let the kids run wild. It made for a great Sunday outing and hopefully  you will visit the Pinecrest Gardens farmers market too!

Check out www.themarketcompany.org for locations, dates and times of all the South Florida farmers markets.
